Rental Duration:
Minimum rental period: 5 days. Minimum rental is extended to 14 days for the travel in peak period (including school holidays). Vehicle rentals are calculated on a per calendar day basis, i.e day of pick up or drop off is always counted as a full day irrespective of that time the vehicle is collected or dropped off.
One Way Rentals:
One way rentals are not available.
Standard Excess Insurance Cover:
All Jirra Motorhomes come with comprehensive insurance cover. A bond of AU$3500 is taken to cover the excess in the event of any damage to our vehicle. The hirer will also be fully liable for demurrage – the daily rental rate for the period the vehicle is off fleet for accident repairs (max 14 days) – and for replacing or repairing damaged windscreens and tyres. Overhead and under body damage on the rented vehicle is not covered.
Excess Reduction 1 (ER1):
Excess Reduction 1 at AU$22 per day will reduce the excess for any damage to the vehicle to a maximum of AU$2,000. The hirer however, will be fully liable for demurrage – the daily rental rate for the period the vehicle is off fleet for accident repairs (max 14 days) – and for replacing or repairing damaged windscreens and tyres. Overhead and under body damage on the rented vehicle is not covered. A bond of AU$2000 is payable at the time of pick up. The total insurance charge is limited to a maximum of 50 days or AU$1,100.
Excess Reduction 2 (ER2) All inclusive:
Excess reduction 2 at AU$35.00 per day will reduce insurance excess for any damage from $3500 to a maximum of $500. The total insurance charge is limited to a maximum of 50 days or $1750. The all inclusive rate includes accidental damage to the vehicle (inc: undercarriage and roof). Accidental damage to accessories and components. Accidental damage to third party property. Towing costs as a result of accidents. Multiple windscreen and tyre replacement. Single accident damage to the rented vehicle and demurrage fee. Also included are camping chairs and a table and a Navigation GPS system.
Bond Payments:
The bond can be paid by cash, traveler’s cheques or credit card. Credit cards will incur a 2.0% surcharge. The bond is fully refundable on return of the vehicle to the agreed location, on the agreed date in clean condition with no damage incurred to the Jirra Motorhome vehicle, with full tank of fuel, the toilet cassette and water tank emptied and no equipment lost or damaged. The Bond can take up to 14 days to be refunded in the event of any damage or repairs needed.
*Bond is taken by imprint only as a security for unauthorised rental, extensions, cost of refuelling & charges for special cleaning
Please note payments made by Visa and Mastercard will incur a 2% surcharge. Personal or business cheques, cash, travelers cheques or bank cheques can only be accepted if received 14 days prior to the commencement of the rental.
Deposit and Cancellation Fees:
An initial non-refundable deposit will be taken at the time of booking confirmation. A secondary deposit to secure booking of AU$250 will be taken directly by the supplier on confirmation.
If deposit not received 35 days prior to commencement, Jirra reserves the right to treat booking as cancelled.
The initial deposits paid are non-refundable. In addition to forfeiting your deposits, the following charges also apply:
Cancellation fee 63 days prior = AU$250
33 – 28 days prior to pick up = 25% (minimum AU$500)
27 – 10 days prior to pick up = 50%
9 – 4 day and no show = 100%
If vehicle returned early = No Refund Available
Payment
Please note that the balance will be secured directly by the supplier 14 days prior to your pick up date.
Travel insurance
We strongly recommend that clients ensure they take out the highest level of travel insurance. In many cases this will cover any losses incurred if you are forced to cancel your booking.
Booking Amendments:
If rental dates are amended within 14 days of vehicle pick up, no refund will be made if shortened. Rental extensions, whilst on hire, must be approved by Jirra Motorhomes. The extra cost must be paid on confirmation of the rental extension.
Licence and Minimum Age:
A valid (non provisional) national drivers licence is required. Non English language national drivers must be presented in conjunction with an official translation or valid international drivers licence. The minimum age is 21 years. Drivers must be competent, experienced and licensed in the driving of manual vehicles.
Travel Restrictions:
Jirra Motorhomes vehicle can only be driven on sealed/ bitumen roads or well maintained access roads of less than (1) kilometer long to recognized campgrounds or national parks. Jirra Motorhomes vehicle can not be driven on any islands in Queensland (including Fraser Island, Moreton Island, North Stradbroke Island).Unsealed tracks including Cape York, Simpson Desert, Gunbarrel Highway, Oodnadatta Track, Birdsville Track, Warburton Road, Tanami Track and Gibb River Road. Jirra does not allow any vehicle contact with salt water, including river crossing. Jirra reserves the right at its discretion to restrict vehicle movements in certain areas due to adverse road or weather conditions.
Smoking and Animal Restrictions:
Smoking in Jirra Motorhomes Vehicles is strictly prohibited, and offenders will be charged a fume removal fee of AU$500. Animals are also not permitted in any Jirra vehicle and the same cleaning fee will apply.
Limit of Liability:
If, for reasons beyond our control, no vehicle is available to the hirer, Jirra’s liability is limited to a refund of the hire charge in full. In the case of mechanical failure (unless caused by the hirer), Jirra's liability will be limited to the hire charge for the remainder of the hire period.
Repairs:
All repairs/ tyre replacements must be authorized by Jirra Motorhomes pty ltd prior to any repair work proceeding. The renter will be reimbursed for expenses incurred in rectifying authorized problems on presentation of relevant receipts and providing the Hirer is not at fault. N.B defective parts or tyres must be returned to our office for inspection. Jirra Motorhomes pty ltd will not accept responsibility for hotel or motel charges, meals or out of pocket expenses – in case of breakdown, liability will be limited to the refund of hire charges for any days lost.
Traffic Infringements:
The Hirer is liable for all fines and penalties in relation to the driver’s use of the vehicle or the vehicle itself incurred during the rental period plus an administration fee of $75 for each infringement or penalty notice that has been redirected by Jirra to the hirer.
Responsibilities of the Hirer:
The Hirer is at all times fully liable for:
1. Any Damage to the Jirra Motorhome vehicle or third party property if the terms of the rental contract are breached.
2. Damage caused by careless, willful or reckless driving.
3. Damage caused by driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
4. Damage caused due to single vehicle roll over.
5. Damage caused by driving on restricted roads.
6. Damage to the awning.
7. Damage to or loss of any personal belongings.
8. Damage caused by the use of incorrect or contaminated fuel.
9. Damage caused by part or total water submersion or salt water.
10. The cost to retrieve keys that have been lost or retrieval of keys that have been locked in a vehicle.
11. In the instances of manual vehicle being hired, the driver must be competent and experienced operator of manual vehicles.
Vehicle Return:
All Vehicle must be returned to the agreed location, on the the agreed date in clean condition with no damage incurred to the Jirra Motorhome vehicle or third party property, with toilet cassette and waste water tank emptied and no equipment lost or damaged. A fee of AU$150 will be charged if the toilet cassette is not emptied or the vehicle is not returned in a reasonable clean condition. Vehicles must be returned with a full fuel tank. Refueling by Jirra Motorhomes will be charged at AU$2.00 per litre of fuel plus handling fee of AU$25.
First Aid Kit:
An extensive first aid kit is supplied in each vehicle. If the seal is broken or the kit is not returned, a fee of AU$50 is charged at the time of drop off.
Luggage
Luggage can be stored at our rental locations free of charge at the owner's own risk.
General:
Rates, terms and conditions are subject to change without notice. Whilst including the same facilities, some motorhomes may have different layouts to those shown. All measurements and volumes shown are approximate. The information provided on the website is subject to change without notice. Any legal claims or legal action in connection with the provision of our service to the client will be governed by the laws of Australia. Any claim or legal action against the suppliers is likely to be subject to the terms and conditions of our contract with them.

Information disclaimer
The rates on this website are often heavily discounted. This is due to our negotiated rates and bulk buying power. On very rare occasions, a rate may be displayed incorrectly due to our, or a vehicle supplier's error. In such a case, if you book with us at a quoted rate that is incorrect, we will notify you of any price change and give you the option to proceed or cancel. We make every effort to keep information on our site up to date, but we cannot guarantee this website is free of errors or omissions and retain the right to update or change the information published at any time.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law we/the owners of this website will not be liable to you or to any third party (whether in contract, tort, or otherwise) for any direct, indirect or consequential loss or damage (including but not limited to any accident, injury, delay or loss of enjoyment) arising out of your reliance upon information contained on this website, including but not limited to your use (or inability to use) any products or services described or procured through this website.
When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. Your rental and use of the vehicle will be governed by the terms of the rental agreement and any other documentation or information provided to you by the supplier at the time you pick up your vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier’s rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.
While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.
Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice. The deposit required to secure your vehicle (as shown on the secure booking page) will only be processed on your credit card when your booking is confirmed. Please note that a 1.75% credit card charge will be added when your payment is processed.
A booking is confirmed when you have been emailed a confirmation voucher and at this stage the deposit is processed on your card and becomes non-refundable and any cancellation fees stated in the supplier's terms apply. Upon receipt of your confirmation, please check your details carefully and notify us immediately if there are any incorrect details, as it may not be possible to make changes at a later date.
If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.
Information disclosure
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.
Amendments
Please note that some suppliers treat an amendment as a new booking and apply the rate current at the time the amendment is made to recalculate the entire booking amount (not just the days changed). If the rental period is increased, an additional deposit may be required. If the rental period is shortened which results in a reduction of the rental charges, the deposit amount will remain unchanged, and the difference between the original and revised deposit is forfeited (it cannot be used towards remaining rental charges). To request a change to a confirmed booking, please use the alterations request link on your confirmation. Any alterations are subject to availability and the approval of the supplier. In addition to the alteration policy of the supplier stated in their terms, the following charges will apply:
Car rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency):
To change dates or times that result in a recalculation of rental rates, or to change vehicles or locations: 25.00
To add or remove extras to/from a confirmed booking: 10.00
Motorhome rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency):
To change dates or times that result in a recalculation of rental rates, or to change vehicles or locations: 75.00
To add or remove extras to/from confirmed booking: 20.00
The alteration fee will not be charged if your alteration request is not possible.
Vehicle Capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.
